Health Medicine Forum Event on Addiction
More than ten percent of Americans
suffer from some form of addiction and the numbers are on the rise.
Misconceptions and stigmas still abound in our culture and the climate
of recovery is often unsympathetic and ineffective. People who suffer
from the disease of addiction do not have a deficit of will; they simply
need understanding without judgment. There is hope. By looking at the
whole person and treatment strategies that give equal weight to
biochemistry, psychology and spirit, true healing can begin.
On Friday, May 30 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm,
the Health Medicine Forum will present "New Prescriptions for
Addictions" – an evening of discussion on health and healing at the John
Muir Medical Center Ball Auditorium in Walnut Creek, CA, 1601 Ygnacio
Valley Rd. Walnut Creek, CA 94598.
The event, moderated by Len Saputo, MD,
will feature three outstanding speakers including Richard Gracer, MD,
Richard Kunin, MD, and Steven Peterson, LCSW, CADC III.
Richard Gracer, MD, is the founder and
director of the Gracer Medical Group, and a well known specialist in
prolotherapy (Regenerative Injection Therapy or RIT). He is also the
first physician in the United States to treat intervertebral disc
problems with ozone injections into the disc. Dr. Gracer recently
published “A New Prescription for Addiction”, which details his
ground-breaking treatment methods for restoring health to those with
substance abuse issues. Dr. Gracer is a Diplomate of the American Board
of Pain Management. He and his group of practitioners also provide other
bio-oxidative medical treatments utilizing ozone and peroxide.
Additionally, Dr. Gracer treats heavy metal toxicity, thyroid
dysfunction, and related problems.
Dr. Richard Kunin, MD, is a nutrition
oriented physician, and an Orthomolecular specialist with over forty
years of experience in the nutrition medicine field. He pioneered the
use of vitamins and minerals in today’s medical practice and was a
co-founder of the Orthomolecular Medical Society with Dr. Linus Pauling
in 1976. Dr. Kunin has written many books including Mega Nutrition and
Mega Nutrition for Women. Steven Peterson is a licensed clinical social
worker (LCSW) and a certified alcohol and other drug abuse counselor (CADCIII).
